Bus Sathi started as one bus and one phone line out of Prithvi Chowk depot in Pokhara. Seventeen years later we still answer that phone — only now it's also a website, an SMS gateway, and an installable PWA.
When we started in 2008 there was no online booking in Nepal worth mentioning. You called a depot, you waited for someone to write your name in a register, you turned up and hoped your seat was still there. It mostly worked, but it lost a lot of people on the way.
We built Bus Sathi because we wanted the route from Pokhara to Kathmandu, Sunauli, and Bhairahawa to be bookable from anywhere with a phone — without giving up the human-on-the-other-end-of-the-line part. The site is fully self-built, the operators run their own counters, and the conductors still know your name when you board.
We're owner-operated, which means there's no investor pressure to load the page with ads or upsell you a hotel. The site does one job: help you find a bus, hold your seat, and get a ticket on your phone before you leave the depot.
